Das Sequel "Aliens vs. Predator Requiem" (vormals: "Survival of the Fittest") kam am 26.

"Alien 5" & "Alien vs. Predator"-Sequels !?!

[07.09.2010] Digital Spy meldet...
Gemma Arterton has revealed that she will meet with Ridley Scott about starring in his Alien prequels.
The Tamara Drewe star told The Times that Scott requested a meeting after seeing her performance in J Blakeson's thriller The Disappearance Of Alice Creed. [...]

[04.09.2010] The Independent meldet...
[...] The anticipation for his next project is building to fever pitch: it will be a two-part prequel to Alien, shot in 3D. Scott was never asked to make a sequel to Alien; that honour went to James Cameron, before a further two sequels and two Alien vs Predator spin-offs milked the franchise dry. But with the Lost co-creator Damon Lindoff polishing the first prequel's script, you can sense the competitor in Scott, desperate to put his stamp back on the film series that launched him. "Jim's raised the bar and I've got to jump to it," he says, in a friendly jibe at Cameron. "He's not going to get away with it."
Set 30 years before the 1979 original, so with no room for Sigourney Weaver's Ripley, the prequels will explore the origins of the deadly aliens. "The film will be really tough, really nasty," he notes. "It's the dark side of the moon. We are talking about gods and engineers. Engineers of space. And were the aliens designed as a form of biological warfare? Or biology that would go in and clean up a planet?"
It's a bold move, one that could taint Scott's earlier contribution to the series if it goes wrong. But Scott loves a gamble, whether it's taking on the sequel to The Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal, or resurrecting an unfashionable genre with Gladiator. [...]

[01.08.2010] Deadline meldet...
Damon Lindelof has taken his first big solo screenwriting job since concluding the ABC series Lost. I’m been told that he closed a deal to do rewrite work on 20th Century Fox’s Alien prequel, which the studio hopes Ridley Scott will direct as his next assignment.
In a development as vexing as a Lost plotline, studio insiders said that while Lindelof indeed met with Scott and the studio for that rewrite job, the exchange of ideas between them sparked a take that could well turn out to be a free-standing science fiction film. The studio will decide when Lindelof turns it in. Scott Free is producing and Lindelof's CAA reps closed his deal last night. [...]
I’m told that Lindelof jumped at this opportunity because Scott's 1979 space thriller Alien was such a seminal influence on him. Resuscitating the Alien franchise has been a big priority for Fox, which has a script by Jon Spaihts, who wrote the Gabriele Muccino-directed Keanu Reeves-starrer Passengers for Morgan Creek, and whose drafts on the Alien film persuaded Scott to move from producing the film to directing it. [...]

[...] "I sat thinking about the franchise, which now has died on the road somewhere way back and lying in the dust, and thought what I should do is go back... in the first Alien, when John Hurt climbed up and over the top of the rise... there was a massive giant lying in a chair. The chair was either a form of engine or some piece of technology and I always thought no one has ever asked who was the space jockey?"
- The Alien prequel will be broken into two films. The scripts are written and Scott is prepping it now.
- Time frame is way before Alien. Not only will we find out who the Space Jockey is, we'll find out where his people come from.
- The first Alien was The Old Dark House with 7 people with an unwelcome visitor. Scott loved the script, but it was a very basic screenplay.
-The prequel will go further into the world of terraforming and will focus on the realities of what it takes to leave for another planet. He mentioned the theory of Near Faster-Than-Light travel, which is complete science fiction at the moment; "Mr. Spock stuff" as he called it, rearranging matter essentially, but theoretically possible. "But what we're allowed to do by movies is to cheat like hell. But I think the closer it is to the truth, the closer it is to the technological feasibility then it becomes that much more interesting. And if it's a film like the one I'm going to do, then it becomes that much more frightening." [...]
- FirstShowing.net's Alex Billington sent me a heads up after posting this that Scott also mentioned they're going to be exploring Zeta 2 Reticuli, the same system from Alien. Naturally they'd be going back at some point if the prequel leads up to Alien, but from what Scott was saying it seems like this system plays a large role in the prequels. [...]
- On the Space Jockey: "I think beneath that carcass... it's not a carcass, it's a suit. Inside the suit is a being." An interesting hint at to what he's doing with the prequels, perhaps? [...]

[27.04.2010] Collider sprach neulich mit Ridley Scott...
Question: Everyone in this room knows what you're going to do next.
Ridley Scott: Alien, yeah. We're doing that now. We're on the fourth draft. It's alright; it's pretty good...
There has been a lot of talk about you doing that in 3D.
Ridley Scott: Of course, it'll be 3D.
[...] You're developing the Alien prequel, are you developing it as a series of films or a longer storyline?
Scott: It'll be two. It'll be prequel one and two. Then Alien 1.
Are you going to shoot the prequels together or shoot them separately?
Scott: At the moment I'm just trying to get the first one out. [...]

[09.12.2009] CS! meldet...
Actor Lance Henriksen (Aliens, Alien3 and AVP: Aliens vs. Predator) has signed up to appear in the upcoming "Aliens vs. Predator" game, developed by Rebellion in the UK.
Lance Henriksen will appear as Karl Bishop Weyland, a descendent of Charles Bishop Weyland, the founder of the infamous Weyland-Yutani corporation from the Aliens universe. He will lend his likeness and voice to the production.
"They've made me look very good," said Lance Henriksen, "This is the first time I've been fully represented in a game, with my voice and how I look, and the Rebellion guys have done a great job. I might score from this game!"
"Aliens vs. Predator" is set for release in February 2010 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

[29.10.2009] Empire Online sprach mit Ridley Scott über das "Alien"-Prequel...
[...] Since the prequel was announced, it's been assumed that it would tell the story of how those nasty, slavering xenomorphs came to land on LV-426 in the first place. But after listening to Sir Ridley, suddenly we're not so sure...
"It's a brand new box of tricks," said Sir Ridley. "We know what the road map is, and the screenplay is now being put on paper. The prequel will be a while ago. It's very difficult to put a year on Alien, but [for example] if Alien was towards the end of this century, then the prequel story will take place thirty years prior."
Interesting. And damned intriguing, to boot. Presumably, rather than make a film about how those massive elephantine aliens (remember the giant pilot with his chest blown outwards in Sir Ridley's original?) were decimated by the acid-blooded bastards, Sir Ridley and his writer, Jon Spaihts, have decided to reboot the story in an attempt to give it a human focus.
How this will fit in with existing series continuity remains, like much about the new Fox movie, to be seen, but with Sir Ridley on board, we're sure that the Alien series is on course for a return to genuine quality. Frankly, though, we're still a little surprised that the man who is arguably Britain's greatest living director would return to the scene of his greatest triumph. So why do it?
"I never thought I'd look forward to a sequel," said Sir Ridley. "But a prequel is kind of interesting. I'm looking forward to doing that." [...]

[17.09.2009] Der TV-Sender Vox zeigt heute um 22.40 Uhr "Alien vs. Predator"...

[30.07.2009] Variety.com meldet...
Twentieth Century Fox is resuscitating its "Alien" franchise. The studio has hired Jon Spaihts to write a prequel that has Ridley Scott attached to return as director. Spaihts got the job after pitching the studio and Scott Free, which will produce the film.
The film is set up to be a prequel to the groundbreaking 1979 film that Scott directed. It will precede that film, in which the crew of a commercial towing ship returning to Earth is awakened and sent to respond to a distress signal from a nearby planetoid. The crew discovers too late that the signal generated by an empty ship was meant to warn them.
The deal gives Fox another chance to keep the "Alien" franchise alive. There were three sequels to Scott's original, but it is the first time the director has set his mind on directing one.
Spaihts has become a go-to-guy for space thrillers. After Keanu Reeves became attached to his Warner Bros. sci-fi script "Shadow 19," Reeves hired Spaihts to write the space journey epic "Passengers," which is berthed at Morgan Creek. That script got Spaihts the meeting with Fox and Scott Free, and he won the job with an "Alien" reboot take that the studio and Scott loved.
Fox has separately hired him to rewrite "The Darkest Hour," which Timur Bekmambetov to produce with Tom Jacobson. Spaihts is writing "Children of Mars" for Disney and Scott Rudin, and he will follow by rewriting "St. George and the Dragon" for Sony and Red Wagon.

[...] The movie people are probably the most interested in is the rumored Untitled Alien Prequel that was discussed heavily last week. Scott had told another site that director Carl Rinsch was going to be directing it, but then just a few days ago Entertainment Weekly reported that in fact, no director had been signed and that 20th Century Fox was holding out hope that Tony's brother Ridley Scott would be directing. "I'm going to call a time out on that one," he halted us when asked about it today, though he still seemed optimistic things would work out. "I don't want to get caught in the middle. We're in process on that, but I don't have enough information to bring it to this table, but we're going to make it." [...]

[...] When word leaked earlier this week that Ridley Scott was working on a prequel to his 30-year-old sci-fi classic, the original Alien, fans pounced on the news. But the project may have already hit its first speed bump: The filmmakers and Fox, the studio that owns the rights to the franchise, seem to have conflicting ideas about who should direct. Scott plans to produce and had handpicked commercial director Carl Erik Rinsch - whose ads for German electronics company Saturn are known for their futuristic flourishes - to make his feature debut. Rinsch's selection is complicated by the rumor that he's romantically involved with Scott's daughter, Jordan, also a commercial helmer. (Reps for both Jordan Scott and Rinsch did not respond to calls to confirm.) Sources at Fox, however, tell EW that the studio is not interested in greenlighting a prequel unless Scott himself directs. Scott and his reps didn't respond to calls for comment. But Tony Scott, Ridley's brother and producing partner, was unequivocal in his support for Rinsch when asked about the project last weekend at the junket for his movie The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3. ''Carl is doing the prequel to Alien,'' Tony told a reporter from Collider.com, before adding: ''I'm excited because Ridley created the original and Carl is one of the family.'' Just which ''family,'' personal or professional or both, was unclear. [...]

[...] A few days ago, Bloody-Disgusting reported that 20th century Fox was going to remake "Alien" and director Carl Rinsch would be helming the movie. Immediately fandom exploded with venom. I think one of the main reasons is that the original is a classic, and 20th Century Fox hasn't been making films of that caliber recently.
So at today's junket for Tony Scott's new film "The Taking of Pelham 123", I went up Tony after the press conference ended to ask him what was up with the remake.
The big news is he confirmed Carl Rinsch would be directing it and that it's a prequel to his brother Ridley's classic!
What Tony told me is after the jump:
Collider: 20th Century Fox is talking about remaking or redoing the original Alien. What's going on with that?
Tony Scott:
Yes, Carl Rinsch is going to do the prequel to Alien. He's one of our directors at our company.
Collider: I'm going to be blunt about this. Fox has not been doing a great job recently with their movies. They haven't been an artist friendly studio. Are you guys going to have some creative control and make this a kick-ass film?
Tony:
Yes! But Fox is our home. They finace our production company.
Collider: And I'm very happy that you guys have the financing. But a lot of the films they've been doing at the studio level, they've been nickel and diming and not giving fandom what they want. So I guess my question for you is - are you a little nervous about reengaging the franchise or are you excited.
Tony:
I'm excited cause Ridley created the original and Carl Rinsch is one of the family.
Collider: When do you envision this film getting in front of cameras?
Tony: Hopefully the end of the year. Collider: Will it be a summer of 2011 movie?
Tony:
Honestly, I don't know. [...]
