Wie CS! wurde die Produktion von "Bond 23" auf unbestimmte Zeit verschoben... 007 producers, Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli of EON Productions, today announced they have suspended development on the next James Bond film previously scheduled for release 2011/2012.
"Due to the continuing uncertainty surrounding the future of MGM and the failure to close a sale of the studio, we have suspended development on 'Bond 23' indefinitely. We do not know when development will resume and do not have a date for the release of 'Bond 23,'" stated Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli jointly.
EON Productions have produced twenty two James Bond films since 1962. In 1995, Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli took over the 007 franchise from Albert R 'Cubby' Broccoli and are responsible for producing some of the most successful James Bond films ever, including Casino Royale and more recently Quantum of Solace. The James Bond franchise is the longest running in film history. EON Productions and Danjaq LLC are affiliate companies and control all worldwide merchandising for James Bond.

MI6.co.uk meldet... Jesper Christensen will not be reprising his role as the villainous Mr White of the Quantum organization in the next James Bond film, the 23rd in the series. Not just because his character is unlikely to feature in the story, but also because the Danish actor lashed out at the predictability and quality of the two films he appeared in opposite Daniel Craig.
[...] Christensen said that he is happy that his "interlude as a villain in the James Bond series is over."
Explaining his position, Christensen said: "Today, I admit that I regard [Casino Royale] and [Quantum of Solace] as really shit. All the people die in them, so two movies are enough for me." [...]

Wie Heat Vision meldet, scheint man mit Sam Mendes (u.a. "Road to Perdition", "American Beauty") den passenden Regisseur für Bond #23 gefunden zu haben... It's Mendes. Sam Mendes. The British helmer is in negotiations to direct the 23rd installment of the venerable James Bond franchise.
Production is being fast-tracked and could begin as early as June with an eye toward a 2011 release. Plans for the film are moving forward despite a possible sale of MGM. Sony co-produced and distributed the most recent installment of the 007 series with MGM.
Bond regulars Neal Purvis and Robert Wade are writing, along with "Frost/Nixon" scribe Peter Morgan. Michael Wilson and Barbara Broccoli are producing. Daniel Craig will reprise his role as 007.
The film will be Mendes' first action-heavy project, although his 2005 effort "Jarhead" was set amid U.S. war in Kuwait. [...]

Variety.com meldet... The 23rd James Bond film will start shooting late next year, according to Daniel Craig.
The thesp made the disclosure Friday in New York in response to a fan's question as he exited the stage door for "A Steady Rain," a Broadway play in which he's starring with Hugh Jackman.
MGM had no comment about Craig's comment. He's starred in "Casino Royale" and "Quantum of Solace," which took in nearly $1.2 billion in worldwide box office.
The most recent announcement on the Bondpic came in June when Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli of EON Prods. and MGM disclosed that Peter Morgan, Neal Purvis and Robert Wade were writing the script for the film, which does not have a director attached yet. Purvis and Wade most recently worked on "Quantum of Solace" and "Casino Royale."

Daniel Craig will reprise his role as Ian Fleming's James Bond 007 in the film, which will be a MGM release of an EON production. Heute erscheint "James Bond 007: Ein Quantum Trost" auf DVD & Blu-ray Disc und MTV.com sprach mit dem Regisseur Marc Forster über seine mögliche Beteiligung beim nächsten Bond-Abenteuer... [...] Even though Forster declined an invitation to return, he expressed hope that his darker Bond vision would lay the groundwork for a lighter follow-up.
"They asked me if I wanted to," Forster told MTV News. "I’ll never say never again, but at this point I would say no."
Debunked rumors recently connected "Slumdog Millionaire" director Danny Boyle to the next sequel, along with the film’s lead actress, Freida Pinto as a possible Bond girl. Forster likes Boyle, but said whoever ends up in Bond’s next director’s chair will hinge on the script.
"It really depends on what direction they want to take it," the "Kite Runner" and "Monster’s Ball" director explained. "For me, I wanted to take it to a harder and darker place, but now that that journey I’ve gone on has succeeded, I feel like the next one can take it to a bit more humorous place again."
Both of Bond’s last outings in "Casino Royale" and "Quantum of Solace" set the British spy up against murky areas of international protocol involving terrorism, torture and blurred lines between corporate and national interests. Forster indicated that those morally ambiguous areas needed to be looked at, but laid out hope that tackling them would set the stage for a turn in series’ future.
"I feel like next time you should take it in a lighter and more humorous way, maybe add a few more girls and a bit more sex - all that kind of stuff," he said. "I think that would be interesting." [...]

CS! sprach mit Daniel Craig über die Zukunft von Bond...
CS: What more do you want to do with Bond? What other parts of him would you like to explore?
Craig: Well, I genuinely think we've got a blank page now. We've finished this story off. "Quantum of Solace" was exactly the right thing to do. We started something with "Casino Royale" and we wrapped it all up with "Quantum of Solace." We're ready to begin again and we can do what we want.
CS: So you think that the next one will be a throwback to another Bond era?
Craig: Submarines and outer space!
CS: Are you all still looking at unused Ian Fleming story elements, since that worked so well in "Casino Royale?"
Craig: Yeah, but there's nothing left. It's all done unless someone finds a dirty manuscript under the couch at [Fleming's Jamaican estate] GoldenEye, we're stuffed. [...]

James Bond blew away foreign box office rivals as "Quantum of Solace" gunned down $106.5 million at 9,870 playdates in 60 territories -- the 11th biggest international weekend ever.
Underlining Bond's global popularity, Sony-MGM's Bond pic averaged a socko $10,790 per location. It's cumed an eye-popping $160.3 million internationally in its first 10 days even though it still hasn't opened in Australia, Japan, Mexico and Spain.

CS! berichtet über die internationalen Einspielergebnisse... James Bond returned with a record-setting opening at the international box office as Sony/MGM's Quantum of Solace earned an impressive $38.6 million at 2,123 theaters in the U.K., France and Sweden, two weeks ahead of the domestic launch.
The British business for the film dazzled on Bond's home turf with $25.3 million at 1,150, breaking the three-day launch record held by Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and taking in a jaw-dropping 70% of the market. The Daniel Craig vehicle also set a Friday record with $8 million, 23% higher than "Goblet."
The $10.6 million French launch for "Solace" set a Bond film record over three days, topping the five-day mark of Casino Royale by 16%. And the $2.7 million Swedish debut was the fourth-biggest ever in that market after the final "Lord of the Rings" film, "Goblet" and the third "Pirates of the Caribbean." [...]

Massawyrm von AICN liefert seine Kritik zu "Quantum of Solace"... [...] All of the major complaints people had about the last film are gone entirely. There’s zero card playing, the action beats happen much faster, there’s no sappy love story and most important of all, there is no mysterious fourth act that springs up just when you think the movie is over and done with. No, Quantum of Solace is a fast paced action packed Bond film that actually feels very familiar. Almost too familiar in fact.
If Quantum has one flaw, it is this: it is identical in structure and feel to the Bourne Identity series. [...]
