FILME A-Z

Abrams (u.a. "Mission: Impossible III") und startete am 7. Mai 2009 in den deutschen Kinos... Sequel(s) sind in Planung...

[20.04.2010] CS! sprach mit Karl Urban, u.a. über "Star Trek 2"...
Q: [...] What do you think of evolution of your character is going to be like in the next "Star Trek"?
Urban:
I have no idea. I just know it's going to be good. I'm really looking forward to getting on board that one and I feel now we've introduced all these great characters. It's going to be really interesting to see where we can take it.
Q: Will you start shooting soon?
Urban:
No, I think it will start to shoot at the beginning of next year. [...]

[09.01.2010] Wie CS! meldet, wurde der (vorläufige) US-Starttermin für das Sequel zu J.J. Abrams' "Star Trek" auf den 29. Juni 2012 gelegt...

Atari, Inc. and MMO developer Cryptic Studios announced today that Leonard Nimoy, the actor who originated the legendary and beloved "Star Trek" character of Spock more than 40 years ago, has joined the cast of "Star Trek Online," the first massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) ever set in the "Star Trek" universe.
Nimoy, who recently reprised his role as Spock in 2009's Star Trek movie, will voice the introduction for "Star Trek Online." Nimoy's voice, known to millions of fans all over the world, will also be heard during key scenes and events in-game. [...]

[19.11.2009] CS! meldet...
Just last night, we posted an interview with Star Trek director J.J. Abrams in which he said he won't know if he'll direct the sequel until the script is done, which may be a while.
But what if he does return? And Khan is the villain? ComingSoon.net is hearing a pretty juicy rumor that they already have a favorite who they'd like to play Khan if that happens.
Who do they think could portray the character made famous by Ricardo Montalban in the 1967 "Star Trek" episode "Space Seed" and 1982 feature Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan?
Nestor Carbonell, who plays Richard Alpert on the J.J. Abrams-executive produced ABC series "Lost."
Now, before you go shouting Nestor is KHAAAN! There are way too many variables right now, including the fact that the Khan character may not even be in the sequel. We just know that if they started filming today, he would be their man.

[19.10.2009] CS! sprach mit den Drehbuchautoren Alex Kurtzman und Roberto Orci...
[...] While they're still very much in the beginning stages and couldn't give us many details, they did give a possible release date year.
"We're rereading some of our favorite 'Star Trek' novels now and watching the original series again. The honest answer is we don't know yet," Orci said. "We think it's going to be a 2012 release, but I'm not sure," he continued.
"Originally we thought we were going to have to have the script in by Christmas, but the release changed so certainly within the next eight months I'd say," Kurtzman told us.
We tried to find out where the two writers would like to see the story go and Orci said: "They're established now in the second movie and they're finally a crew so it will resemble what you see in terms of they are already who they are." [...]

[17.9.2009] SCI FI Wire sprach mit J.J. Abrams über das Sequel...
[...] Where are you in talks for Star Trek 2?
Abrams:
We're hopefully going to have everyone, obviously, from the first cast. I keep trying to spread this rumor that I'm going to recast Kirk as Greg Grunberg, but no one ever prints it.
Have you settled on what direction you're going to take it?
Abrams:
We're just starting on that. Yes, we know the direction, but it's very early. We're working on a script right now still. I can tell you it's cool. We have some really cool ideas, but it's too early.
So Orci and Kurtzman have physically started writing?
Abrams:
No, but we've started talking story, and Damon's writing it with them. [...]

[16.9.2009] Hero Complex sprach mit J.J. Abrams über das Sequel...
[...] "The ambition for a sequel to 'Star Trek' is to make a movie that's worthy of the audience and not just another movie, you know, just a second movie that feels tacked on. The first movie was so concerned with just setting up the characters -- their meeting each and galvanizing that family -- that in many ways a sequel will have a very different mission. it needs to do what [the late 'Trek' creator Gene] Roddenberry did so well, which is allegory. It needs to tell a story that has connection to what is familiar and what is relevant. It also needs to tell it in a spectacular way that hides the machinery and in a primarily entertaining and hopefully moving story. There needs to be relevance, yes, and that doesn't mean it should be pretentious. If there are simple truths -- truths connected to what we live -- that elevates any story -- that's true with any story." [...]

[11.06.2009] Bei AICN kommentiert J.J. Abrams die Gerüchte, laut denen Jack Black für die Rolle des Harry Mudd im "Star Trek"-Sequel in Frage käme...
[...] Yes, talking to Jack Black about doing something -- but not Mudd.
Bryan, Damon, Alex and Bob and I have not had MEETING ONE about a sequel.
Brief, casual, blue-sky conversations, of course. But "okay, what's next for The Crew?" Not a meeting. So any character decisions, let alone actor discussions, feel like a ways away.

[...] J.J. Abrams' relaunch of Star Trek (Paramount) had a fantastic second weekend, dropping just 43% to second place with an estimated $43 million and a total gross of $148 million, well ahead of even the highest grossing movie in the franchise to date. Incidentally, Star Trek will not completely lose all IMAX screens when Fox's Night at the Museum: Battle for the Smithsonian opens this weekend, as theaters will be allowed to continue to play Trek after midnight over Memorial Day weekend and one can expect that it may be able to get more screening times in June if demand continues. [...]

[13.05.2009] CS! berichtet über die US-Einspielergebnisse und IMAX-Rekorde...
[...] The opening weekend tally for J.J. Abrams' "Star Trek" was substantially higher than initial estimates. The Paramount Pictures release grossed $79.2 million over the three day period in 3,849 locations, almost $3 million higher than initial estimates thanks to strong attendance on Mother's Day. Initially, the well-reviewed adventure was expected to bring in $18.3 million on Sunday, but ended up grossing $21 million. Better than expected family attendance was credited with the upsurge. [...]
IMAX Corporation and Paramount Pictures today announced that Star Trek: The IMAX Experience, directed by J.J. Abrams ("Mission: Impossible III", "Lost" and "Alias"), shattered virtually every opening weekend IMAX box office record, posting $8.5 million from 138 IMAX® theatres domestically. The limited IMAX run registered a per screen average of approximately $62,000 for the weekend, marking the highest grossing Friday, Saturday and Sunday ever for an IMAX opening. IMAX's domestic opening contributed 11% of the hit film's overall domestic box office gross of $79.2 million on less than 2% of the screens.
The IMAX release also broke records internationally, generating more than $1.1 million from 25 IMAX screens, for a per screen average of $44,000, bringing the worldwide IMAX box office to $9.6 million. [...]

[11.05.2009] CS! berichtet über die US-Einspielergebnisse...
[...] One of the big question marks this summer was whether J.J. Abrams' relaunch of Star Trek (Paramount) could successfully reboot the franchise created by Gene Roddenberry. With an eclectic cast headlined by Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto and with only one returning actor from the previous movies and television shows, Star Trek went into the weekend with overwhelmingly positive reviews and brisk advance ticket sales. After grossing $4 million in Thursday previews (screenings after midnight counted towards Friday), Star Trek pulled in an additional $72.5 million (estimated) over the weekend, averaging roughly $18.8k in 3,849 venues, including over a hundred IMAX screens. Going by estimates, the $76.5 million grossed by Abrams' relaunch in 3 1/2 days is more than five of the previous "Star Trek" movies made in their entire theatrical runs. A sequel to the movie has already been greenlit, so here's hoping there'll be an announcement soon about a release date. [...]

[06.05.2009] Bei Latino Review (B+) und FilmSchoolRejects.com (B+) gibt es Kritiken zu J.J. Abrams's "Star Trek"...
[...] The plot is simple, basically three segments - the introduction to the characters followed by two distinct battle sequences - but it remains complex with a solid revenge plot. It’s a heavy action film, but it’s one of the funnest movies I’ve seen in years. The characters could easily have slipped into cliche, but pushed past it to become unique entities. There are goofy one-liners up against intense dialog, but nothing ever sounds out of place. It could have become a big, dumb CGI-fest, but a ton of smart, character-development scenes give it most of its life. It irritates and energizes, reaches a climax, and pulls back to develop the human beings that inhabit a very dangerous world. [...]

[24.03.2009] Ein neuer J.J. Abrams's "Star Trek" TV-Spot ist online !!!

[22.03.2009] Hercules von AICN berichtet über eine mögliche neue Serie...
"I told my agent and told the people of J.J. Abrams' team I want to create another 'Star Trek' series and have an idea that I’m kicking around," acclaimed TV writer Bryan Fuller said in an IF Magazine story posted March 2. "I would love to return to the spirit of the old series with the colors and attitude. I loved 'Voyager' and 'Deep Space Nine,' but they seem to have lost the ‘60s fun and I would love to take it back to its origin."
I learned this thanks to a Friday post in James Hibberd’s Live Feed, and found myself pondering Fuller’s intent.
Fuller’s a giant Trek nerd who began his TV career writing on "Deep Space Nine" and "Voyager" (before moving on to create "Dead Like Me," "Wonderfalls" and "Pushing Daisies") so his interest wasn’t a surprise.
I was wondering more about premise. If Abrams’ fast-approaching Kirk-Spock movie proves as big a hit as everybody thinks it will be, that means sequels, and that means the further 23rd century adventures of Kirk and Spock wouldn’t likely be headed for live-action TV. Would the new series take place in the late 24th century era of Old Spock, several years subsequent to the events of "Nemesis"? br> "I would love to do it in the same era as the J.J. Abrams movie, but on another starship on a completely different adventure," Fuller tells Ain’t It Cool. "But it really is a dream and there is nothing official about it at all."
There are rumors afloat that Abrams asked for a two-year "freeze" that would keep any "Trek" TV show off the air until at least 2011, but Abrams told Hibberd that his movie contract afforded him "no veto power" over any proposed TV series. (I’m not sure how much of a impediment a two-year freeze would be anyway, since my understanding is Fuller is contracted with "Heroes" producer NBC Universal until the end of 2010.)
One catalyst that could help garner support for a series is Abrams' longtime best friend Greg Grunberg, an actor who played a major role in "Company Man," the Fuller-scripted first-season "Heroes" episode widely regarded as the series’ finest hour.
Coincidentally, I’ve just seen "Cold Snap," the first Fuller-scripted episode of "Heroes" since "Company Man." The hilarious, harrowing and propulsive "Snap," which airs on NBC Monday, is easily the best episode of the series since "Company Man," and another major episode for Grunberg’s character, Matt Parkman.
